A Time to Turn Up and Praise
It’s that time again! It’s time to get out our praise shoes and put on our praise songs. It’s time to raise a Hallelujah and lift up the name of Jesus. Yes, we are in the middle of a pandemic. Yes, there’s still political unrest. Yes, there is still division in our nation. Yes, we are COVID fatigued. Yes, our finances are stretched. There is no better time to bring on the praise and thanksgiving.
Our praise and gratitude will freeze the enemy in his tracks and kick off songs in heaven. Our praise will bring blessings down and make demons flee. Our praise will be sweet music to the ears of Jesus. Our praise will bring breakthroughs and break chains, lift our spirits and give us strength and hope.
So don’t wait. Praise the awesome King of Kings who showers us with His love and grace day in and day out. There should be no hesitation to give Him our best. He gave us His all, every drop of blood He had, every breath of His body. He took on our sins and faced down death so that we could have life everlasting. He lives within us and desires the best for us here and now.
David realized this and couldn’t keep his praise quiet. He couldn’t hide it under a rock. He threw open the gates of praise and gave the Lord all He had. So as you read his Psalm, imagine how he praised the Lord. Then get up from your problems, your attitude, your hurt feelings and your downer frown. Push through the rough patches and the rough feelings, and turn up the praise for Jesus like you’ve never praised Him before. Pray, sing, declare the following as your own psalm to the Lord:
I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak His praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
Let us exalt His name together.
I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy;
No shadow of shame will darken their faces.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
He saved me from all my troubles.
For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
He surrounds and defends all who fear Him.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in HIm!
Fear the Lord, you His godly people,
for those who fear Him will have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.” Psalm 34
Amen!
