Don't Lose Your Dreams
When you look into the future, what do you see? Are you afraid to look out too far? After last year, most of us are pretty cautious about thinking ahead. COVID lurks around every corner and disruption and dissension permeate the air. Most of us keep our heads down and hope whatever craziness is going on, will pass us by. We’ve lost our beacon of hope and our desire to dream.
That’s a dangerous place to be. Without some hope for the future and without dreams of what God has in store for us, we can become jaded, disillusioned or worse, just plain give up. It’s time to wake up and dust off those dreams you put on hold when the Father called your name. It’s true, you may not be able to fulfill those dreams right away, but they should always be in the forefront of your mind.
You see, there is a dream destroyer who wants nothing more than to steal your dreams. He knows the Father has a purpose for you and his job is to stall or thwart you from accomplishing that purpose. He is the enemy of mankind and he’s been stealing dreams since the beginning of time starting with Adam and Eve. The enemy came along, tricked them and derailed the plan God had for them, leaving them ashamed and ejected from the Garden.
Joseph literally had a dream of some day ruling over his family, but not like his brothers thought. The enemy stepped in and threw every stumbling block and mountain in his path, including having him sold off as a slave. Joseph continued to trust in God, and not only did God fulfill the dream, He gave Joseph more than he could have ever asked for.
What dream or purpose has the Lord placed in your heart? What’s stopping you from moving forward? Run to Jesus’ bank of hope and gather the ammunition you need to wake up that purpose or dream. Yes, we do have issues to overcome like the effects of the virus, and financial or even health issues. But Jesus is not bankrupt of hope or of help in making that purpose happen. Remember, when you see your dream or purpose fulfilled, God is exalted.
You may be battered by the storms of life and staggered by the winds of the enemy, but you are God’s child who has every right to dream and fulfill God’s purpose for you. Don’t give the enemy power over your dreams and purpose. Just like Jesus calmed the storm for the disciples and brought peace to their minds, He will do the same for you. His will for your life is real and the choice is yours: capture your thoughts and shift your thinking or let the enemy run you over.
Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream would not only lift people, but it would exalt the Lord. Let his words encourage you as you recapture your purpose. “I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; “and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.” (Isaiah 40:4-5) This is our hope and our dream too.
“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today...The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:13-14
Prayer
Lord,
You take pleasure in those who fear You, in those who hope in Your mercy. You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope. I will hold my head up and look for You. I will not be discouraged or distracted by the high winds or waves that crash around me. Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. It will lead me through the fiercest storms and the darkest night. Lead me to Your green pastures and by the streams so that I may find rest on weary days. Thank You LORD! Amen!
