A New Year's Prayer
Celebrations for the New Year of 2021 will be so different. The big in-person party in Times Square won’t happen the same. We won’t have big gatherings or parties with good food and celebratory glee. The pandemic stopped that. But, we have no reason to throw the celebrations out the window! Just because it’s different doesn’t mean the New Year has to be put in a closet.
We have much to be thankful for and much to look forward to. In spite of our challenges, we are still children of God, loved beyond our imagination. See the wonderful people He has placed in your life. See all the times He stepped in when you thought all was lost. See the answered prayers and the acts of kindness He sent your way.
The Father hasn't put the future on hold and He wants us to look forward through His eyes. Let’s dedicate this New Year to growing in Jesus and all the hope He brings. Pull out His Word and ask Him to show you the hope for the future. It’s there. Then, join us as we ring in 2021 in prayer. Let's hope our prayers rock the heavens and the angels erupt in a huge celebration of Jesus and His love for us. We can walk boldly into the new year with Him by our side!
Our Prayer
Jesus, today we celebrate You and the awesome plan you have for us in 2021. Thank you for getting us through 2020 and letting us see the new year. You are the Sovereign One, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You are our hope, our peace and our joy and we ask for your help in keeping our eyes solely focused on You.
You know what the future holds and we trust You. Give us wisdom and understanding as we walk into this new year. We place our thoughts, our hearts and our souls in Your hands. Give us a new boldness and outrageous courage to meet whatever the new year brings, be it exciting adventures or new challenges.
Jesus, we ask for your guidance in making decisions this year. Help us to look to You first for our solutions and direction. Help us to increase the time we have in Your Presence because we know that in Your Presence is fullness and joy.
Open our eyes to Your glory. Open our hearts to more of You. Open our mouths to testify of Your mercy and grace. Show us how to heal relationships and form new ones. Teach us how to better love our brothers and sisters and let Your light shine through us at all times.
Come, Holy Spirit and settle here! Let Your Spirit pour out on us, our families and our nation. Heal us from the pandemic and let this be a year of restoration of body, heart and mind. We pray that hearts and minds will be changed and that many more of our family, friends and neighbors will experience the sweet power of salvation.
We pour out our love on You and we surrender all to You. Help us to be more of what You intended us to be. Help us to put You as our hearts desire. Thank You for Your grace and Your love toward us. Thank You for this new year. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
