The Harvest
Throughout Jesus’ ministry, He talked about the harvest. He trained up His disciples so they could go out and train more disciples with the mission of spreading the Gospel. Here we are over two thousand years later, and the ministry He launched is still alive and well. Yes, we are battling a pandemic and many other issues as well; however, in spite of our trials, in fact, because of our trials, people need Jesus even more. Join us this week as we pray past our problems and pray into the fields of harvest. We cannot take our eyes off our true purpose.
That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.

THE PRAYER
When Peter heard John’s cry, “It is the Lord!,” he realized there was still a harvest for him. Despite his failures and denials, he would drag this amazing harvest in once he had swum ashore. It is no different for us today; no matter what we have faced and how we have responded over the past year, there is still a harvest for us as well.
Lord Jesus, help Your people around the world to hear Your voice clearly in the darkness of the new day’s dawn. We cry out with one voice and say, “Lord, anoint Your people to embrace the incredible harvest waiting for them in their cities, communities, and nations.” We choose to step into the harvest today, just like Peter. For those who are still too discouraged to recognize Your voice, use us – like You used John – to awaken them to the reality of Your purpose. Regather Your scattered people into their local churches, and send them into the harvest fields, we pray.
Lord, even though Your disciples fished all night and caught nothing, You never stopped fishing. Your word is clear: “When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it.” It is no different for Your church today. Despite all the challenges with COVID, You have continually been fishing spiritually among the broken peoples of our hurting world. Only one question remains: will we remain preoccupied with our own problems and pain, or will we join You in the harvest of a lifetime?
In the name of Jesus, we are crying out for a fresh worldwide outpouring of the Holy Spirit which will revive Your Church and launch them into evangelism and discipleship. Heavenly Father, shatter the deceptive darkness over the world’s peoples by Your mighty power, so they can clearly hear and respond to the message of the Gospel. As this fresh wave of Your Spirit churns through the continents of our planet, we also ask You to glorify Your name through the eradication of COVID-19.
