Atmospheric Power
The Star Wars series is classic. I’m sure you have your favorite movie and character. There are many lessons we can learn from this series that are appropriate for us today. The original film is called “A New Hope.” Isn’t that what we seek today given our current circumstances? The overall story is about what happens in the galaxy where humans and aliens co-exist with robots, and space travel between planets is common.
A mystical power called the Force, an energy field that holds all things together, has two major orders at conflict with one another: the peacekeepers who act on the light side of the Force and the Sith who use the dark side by manipulating fear and aggression. Sounds similar to our reality doesn’t it? Our Force is the Father, and we live in a world where we have the choice to be light or peacekeepers, or be darkness or rebellious.
The choice we make determines the atmosphere around us. We actually have control over the kind of atmosphere we want to create or allow. Our choice influences those who come into our space. That’s atmospheric power! The ability to walk in and be light or to walk in or be darkness and then influence those around us.
If we call ourselves followers of Jesus, and if we want to be like Jesus, we are commanded to let our lights shine, to be the peacekeepers. Why? So that the glory of God can be experienced by others. We fight against the darkness and when we encounter it, we have the power to shift the atmosphere around us by letting our light shine. When we do, people will be drawn to the one true God.
This is so important especially in the times we live in today. Darkness sometimes feels like it is the overcomer because we see and hear so much negativity. But praise God, we know who the Overcomer is and He has given us power to be the light and lead the way to Jesus. Every day, we should be walking, breathing beacons of light through which the qualities of Jesus shine through. Every atmosphere we encounter is an opportunity to release Him and bring peace..
Our atmospheric power is our new hope. And that new hope can shine all around us as a representative of Jesus. Which atmosphere have you been walking in? Is it time for a shift? Take control of your power and send the enemy packing. The enemy thrives in the darkness hoping you won’t realize you can change the atmosphere. Reveal him for who he is by shifting the atmosphere of darkness to the atmosphere of light.
Jesus was a peacekeeper, the light of the world. Are you a peacekeeper whose light shines brightly? If there is any hope for us or this world, it lies in changing the atmospheres around us by shining our light, His light. Be bold and courageous. Claim your power, wield your power and be that light.
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible--and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.” Ephesians 5:11-14
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
Prayer
Lord,
Wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness. Though this world may get dark You are my light. You are my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? You are the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; You turn my darkness into light. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Your Word says that my eye is the lamp of my body. When my eyes are healthy, my whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, my body also is full of darkness. I keep my eyes on You so that they may remain healthy and my body full of light. You say that I am the salt of the earth of the light of the world. Jesus, I will let my light shine as I lift up Your name through my words and actions. Amen!
