This Time, I'll Be Still

On Friday, we learned that we can speak to the mountains in our lives. Just in case you are still trying to wrap your mind around that, we are going to keep speaking until we believe the words coming from our mouths. This is so important that we are going to continue to confront those mountains.

Let’s be truthful, we can be anxious at times because it’s a challenge to face our mountains. They seem much bigger than we are and hard to face. But remember, we are striving to win the race that the Lord put before us. He didn’t say we couldn’t win, and he also didn’t say that it would be easy all the time.

Have you ever watched true runners get ready for their race? Each of them has a process they go through to get their minds and their bodies in order for the race. They train and they push themselves beyond what they think they are capable of. They keep their minds focused on what it takes to win and then they keep their thoughts on the prize.

We need to do the same thing. Yes, there may be mountains in our way as we run the race the Lord has given us; however, we have an advantage over a natural runner. We have Jesus and we are meant to win this spiritual race. It’s true that even in striving to do things right, we can be tempted when things go wrong or are hard. But this time, let’s be still.

Let’s be still and consider our circumstances. Consider who is on your side. Who has walked with you every step of the way on your desperate days and your long dark nights? Who is up with you through those sleepless nights and the dark hours where all you had were tears and groans? Who never sleeps and is always there when no one else is around? This time just be still and let Jesus bring you peace as you face your mountains.

The mountain has to move. The mountain must obey the words you speak. The mountain has to bow down to your faith. The mountain has to get out of the way because the Lord has work for you to do. He has shown you the way, so choose Him to help you move that mountain today. He is running the race with you and He will see you through. Just be still and trust He is working on your behalf.

Don’t let the mountains in life stop you from running the race and reaching your prize: salvation and eternal life with Jesus. He is Lord over all. Whatever mountain is in the way has to move. Trust and believe that. Speak to it now, again, and tell it to, “Get out of my way!” You are running your race based on the perfect plan that the Lord has for your life. You can depend on Him and His plan. Your faith will see you through.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-25
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways...The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; He is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in Him.” Psalm 37: 7, 39-40

Prayer

Lord,

In You, I put my trust. I trust in You; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in You will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. Remember, Lord, Your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to Your love remember me, for You, Lord, are good. You lead me on to victory. I follow You through the valleys and the peaks. In You, I am more than a conqueror. You have set me feet on the Rock of my salvation. I will sit and wait upon You. Call me. I will listen. I will follow. Amen!
