Seeing the Invisible
Do you remember the story of the Invisible Man? He could walk through a room and unless he had on a piece of clothing, you wouldn’t know he was there. He used his invisible ability to do good and solve mysteries. Unless you knew him, you found it highly impossible to believe anyone could be invisible. It’s hard to believe in what you can’t see.
Many go through life demanding an explanation for things before they can believe they are true. It’s basically putting your trust in what you can see and dismissing all the rest. It’s this very philosophy that keeps many people from putting their trust in the Lord or even believing He is real. Why is it important for us to think about this? After all, aren’t we believers?
Truely, we need to be reminded that especially in times of crisis, it’s easy to question or lose hope in the very One who can bring us through. The pandemic has been an uproar in our lives in so many ways. It has challenged us physically, mentally and spiritually. In spite of the challenges, it has also brought us great opportunity to reconnect with who we are and can be in Christ.
Reminder #1. We see the invisible God through the life and character of Jesus. We may not be able to physically see God, but He gave us His Son. Jesus is the lens we use to see the invisible Father. Through His life, we see the Lord’s love, grace, mercy and salvation. Because of Him, we have the blessing to sit at the feet of the Creator.
Reminder #2. We see the invisible God through the very nature that surrounds us. Every fresh breeze, every cloud in the sky, every forest and flower, animal and bird, every majestic mountain or sea shouts His name. We can see Him and touch Him through the wonders of His creation. When we are down or in despair, we only need to walk out our front door to see Him at work.
Reminder #3. We see the invisible God through the many blessings He pours out on us, large and small. He surely provides everything we need and more. We just have to open our eyes and see His love shining through every circumstance and every trial for with God all things are possible.
Jesus told us that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can make a mountain move. Nothing will be impossible for us. I challenge you to see the invisible God through the reality of Jesus. Through Him, we see the Lord’s faithfulness and love for us. He is no longer invisible, an entity far away on a throne. He is our hope, the Center of our lives, with us every minute, every hour, every day through it all.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities--His eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Roman 1:20
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16
Prayer
Lord,
I humble myself under Your mighty hand, that You may lift me up in due time. I cast all my anxiety on You because You care for me. You are compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. You are the Word with me in all situations and because of You I have access to the Father. I feel Your presence surrounding me. Your wonderful works are all around me and speak of Your creativity. I have been fearfully and wonderfully made; Your mighty Holy Spirit dwells within me and empowers me. Thank You for Your blessings and Your ever present help in times of need. Amen!
