His Delight

“Delight,” a word that isn’t used much today. What does it mean to be delighted with someone or something? I get delighted when I see my granddaughter singing and dancing. I am delighted when I receive a gift from someone. To be delighted means to take great pleasure or keen enjoyment; to be greatly pleased.

The best living example of someone who is delighted is to watch a baby. When a baby is delighted, everything moves, the eyes light up and the smile is heart-melting. The Lord feels the same way about you. He is delighted to see you, hear your voice and see your joy. You bring Him pleasure and keen joy. I know some of you may question whether that can be true because of how you judge yourself.

Today, we are going to dispel any mystery around whether the Lord is really delighted with you. The enemy wants us to believe we aren’t worthy of His delight and deserve punishment over His love. Well, your hope for today and for the future is in the Word. Take your time and read each verse. Hear the Holy Spirit speaking to you about the value the Lord places in you. Find at least one verse to post on your mirror or memorize that gives you hope and brings you peace.

You are the delight of His heart. You give Him joy and extreme pleasure when He sees your face each morning. He waits patiently each day to have a conversation with you, to hear your thoughts and understand how you feel. He takes great pleasure in you, His delightful creation.

“He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me.” 2 Samuel 22:20, Psalm 18:19

“The Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.” Psalm 147:11

“For the Lord takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with victory.” Psalm 149:4

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you.” Zephaniah 3:17

What does the Lord delight in? He delights in those whose ways are blameless, those whose hearts are not perverse (stubborn, unruly, opposing what is right). He delights in people who are trustworthy and love truth. He delights in Jesus, His Son, His Chosen One who brought justice to the nations.

He delights in you and He wants to free you from bondage, hurts and pain. He loves you so much. You put a smile of joy on His face. Let Him lift your spirits and bring you hope for now and for the future. Rest in His delight.

Prayer

Lord,

Your Word says that You do not delight in the strength of the horse; You do not take pleasure in the legs of a man. You favor those who fear You, those who wait for Your lovingkindness. I will sit and be still before You. I will dwell in You, my shelter Most High. I will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I desire Your joy to be my strength. Amen!
