Mountain, Move
A mountain is a natural elevation that rises abruptly from the surrounding level of land. It can be extremely tall, incredibly wide or very hard to scale. The issues we face in life can seem just like a mountain. In fact, problems can rise abruptly and seem insurmountable, unmovable and so formidable that we feel there’s nothing we can do to get past them or over them.
Take the Israelites, for example, when they were facing their first battle trying to get to the Promised Land. The city of Jericho was in their way and was one of the most fortified cities around. Its walls were over 13 feet high with extremely thick walls. No one had conquered the city.
God told Joshua to take the city even though most would say it was impossible. Being obedient, Joshua did exactly what God told him to do: march around Jericho with their trumpets (not weapons) and on the seventh day, march around the city and then give a great and loud shout. And the walls came tumbling down.
Joshua saw the problem, the mountain standing before him, but he was faithful and obedient, and He trusted God. He believed that the Lord was in the battle with him and that the Israelties would be victorious. Today, we have to stand firm on God’s Word and believe that we have the same power Joshua and the Israeltie army had to fight our battles.
Let me tell you. We should be tired of talking about our problems, complaining about them and throwing our hands up over them. We need to take control of our thoughts and face the mountains with no fear. Who should we fear and what should we fear? We are friends of Jesus and we have the Holy Spirit to lead us to victory.
What seemingly unmovable mountain is standing in front of you? Maybe you are facing a divorce, a loss of a loved one, financial deficits, homelessness, sickness, depression, or troubled kids. It doesn’t matter what the mountain is. What matters is how you respond to it. Boldly go before the throne and ask for strength. Bolster your faith with the Word and capture any thoughts that are not of the Lord.
Be courageous and give that mountain a name. Call it out in the name of Jesus. Then tell it what you want it to do. It’s simple. Just say, “Mountain, move!” Say it with confidence knowing that Jesus already gave you the power to make that mountain jump. I know it may sound impossible, but Jesus said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26)
Jesus is in the mountain moving business. He gives us a path to either move it, cross over it or plough right through it. It is through His power and the power of our faith that mountains crumble. Don’t be afraid. Take Jesus’ hand and go move that mountain!
“And He said to them, ‘Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.’” Matthew 17:20
“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.” Mark 11:23
Prayer
Lord,
If You are for me, who can be against me? Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. I am hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. No, in all these things I am more than conqueror through You who loves me. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from Your love. You have given me the Spirit of boldness, power, and sound mind. I will face every mountain in my life with You leading me on to victory. Hallelujah! Glory and honor to Your wonderful name; Jesus, there is power in Your name and I will lift You up over all my circumstances! Praise Your holy name! Amen!
