Just Say Yes

Welcome to 2021! It’s a new year and we start on a new foot. I know we carried over some challenges like the virus and all that it has changed for us, but we are also walking into a new season. How we walk into it will set the tone for how we travel through it. So set your eyes on Jesus and let’s walk with expectant hope in our steps.

How does that look? We walk with confidence and boldness, knowing that we already have the victory. We have victory over whatever challenges may come and over those that we are still facing. We are not defeated and we are suited up in the full armor of God. Not just today, but every day, we will wear our armor with swords up.

We speak with authority because Jesus gave us authority to do what He did and more. We do not hold back from giving Him the glory or from sharing His Good News. We take authority in Jesus’s name over the spirits and principalities that try to come against us. No timidness or fear will rule over us.

We walk in the Truth and we speak only the Truth. That means we are in our Bible’s studying and meditating on what the Lord has to say. We do not seek truth through man’s word or through any social media. We test everything against His Word.

We act in love at all times, no matter how hard it may be. We ask for forgiveness and we give forgiveness and grace to others. Judgment has been left behind and we see our sisters and brothers through the eyes of Jesus. Then we act as He would even when it makes no sense to anyone else.

We are prayer warriors and we step up our game by adding fasting to our prayer time. This means we spend more time with Jesus and less time on our devices. We seek His face every day yearning for a deeper relationship and a sweeter time in His Presence.

These are not hard things to do. All we have to do is set our hearts and minds on doing the will of the Lord and then just say “Yes!” Say “Yes, Lord!” to what He asks you to do; where He asks you to go; and who He asks you to serve. Take that leap of faith this year knowing He has you and will not let you fall. Just say, “Yes!” to more time of worship and praise, more time to know Him, more time to grow. Just say “Yes!” and follow Him and no one else.

Our hope for the future lies in our willingness to follow Jesus. We’ve tried other ways and they led us to misery and defeat. His Way and His path are the only sure directions for us because we know they lead to showers of blessings and eternal rewards with Him. Listen for His voice and let it drown out all others. Start this new year by coming into agreement with Him and just say “Yes!”

“Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:4-5

“The Lord is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?...I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:1,13-14

Prayer

Lord,

You are the One who goes with me to fight for me against my enemies, to give me the victory. Even if I prepare for battle, the victory belongs to You. I know I can do all things through You who strengthen me. I know that there is no temptation that will overtake me that is not common to man. That You are faithful, and You will not let me be tempted beyond my ability, but with the temptation You will also provide the way of escape, that I may be able to endure it. I will keep my eyes on You and follow wherever You lead me. I know that the battle is not against others, but against the enemy of my soul, who comes to steal, kill and destroy. I make a vow to You to be grounded on You, the Rock of my salvation and hide Your Word within my heart so that I may not sin against You. Mold me into Your image. Teach me Your ways so that I may not be led astray. I will be strong and courageous as I navigate this new year with You leading the way. My desire is to bring You all the glory and praise this year. Amen!
