Jesus Changes Everything
We’ve been on a roller coaster of change for months and the roller coaster hasn’t stopped yet. We’ve gone from joyful highs, large and small, to some steep dips that seem like they have no bottom. Our emotions have been trying to keep up with the hope, the fears, the doubts and the faith. It’s been tough to hang on sometimes because just when we get used to one change, another one just happens.
Do you find yourself wanting to get off the roller coaster? Are you longing to get your feet back on solid ground, just for a moment; some peace and a time to breath? When we got on this roller coaster of change, we strapped into the seat, locked in the single bar, and with anxious and fearful anticipation, waited for the ride to begin. The first couple of dips were rough, but we made it, and hoped the ride was almost over.
Unfortunately, no one could tell us how long this ride would last, and whoever is in the control booth seems to have gone out to lunch—permanently! As this roller coaster ride progresses, it seems harder to hang on. Sometimes we feel like we’re coming out of the seat, Other times we don’t think we can take another breath, and we just close our eyes.
While your eyes are closed, l want you to remember this: Jesus is on the roller coaster with you. He took this ride once and He experienced everything you are feeling. When His ride was almost over, He turned to the Father and asked Him if there was another way, if the ride could slow down, if it was His will. Jesus knows the peaks and valleys of the roller coaster of change. He knows change will always be with us, and even though we may give it our best fight, it happens in spite of us.
So what do we do? We seek Jesus in the midst of the change. Look around that roller coaster, peer into the wind. He’s there. Then lock your eyes on His face. Don’t take them off for a second. In that moment, in wonder and surrender, let go and fall into His presence. By the power of His roller coaster experience on the cross, you will see Heaven’s Love revealed. He will show you His glory. Your heart is on Holy ground right in the roller coaster.
Then you will know that in that moment you are changed. And He’s right beside you in the seat. When the roller coaster swerves and you feel like you’re about to be crushed, He’s there holding on to you. When the steep dips come and you feel like you’re going to fall, He’s there holding on to you, keeping you safe. So stand on that Holy ground! This ride will end, no doubt. And if you keep Him close to you in that seat, you will see chains fall and fear bow. You’ll see your life healed and hope found.
Jesus, He changes everything! From the first day He was born. Praise God!
“Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles. Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.” Psalm 2:3, 107:10,14
Prayer
Lord,
I love You, You are my strength. You are my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. In my distress I called to You; I cried to You for help. From Your temple You heard my voice; my cry came before You, into Your ears. You reached down from on high and took hold of me; You drew me out of deep waters. You rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. To the faithful You show Yourself faithful, to the blameless You show Yourself blameless,
to the pure You show Yourself pure, but to the devious You show Yourself shrewd. You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. Jesus, I praise Your holy name! Amen!
