Sharing the Love
This devotion is dedicated to Kim who has battled major health issues, but who through her faith and the grace of God, has just completed a successful surgery. Kim, we love you and we surround you with our prayers.
Could you use a little love right about now? I think we all could. It’s been a tough year for many, and some are still going through trying times. When you find yourself being bombarded on all sides, it’s easy to feel love depleted. But let me tell you about a love that defied all imagination, just so we could be loved unconditionally with compassion and grace.
It started at the beginning of creation when our Father poured out His love as He created us. After each day’s work, He said it was good, but when it came to man, He stood back and said that day's work was very good. He was most pleased with us. This love has never stopped and never failed down through the ages.
His love was so great for us and His relationship with us was so important to Him, that He sent His Son Jesus to make sure we knew how much He loves us. He sacrificed His Son for our sins and gave us salvation and grace. He shared His love and showed His love beyond any doubt. He’s loving you right at this moment through His Son.
Between the Father and the Son, was a young woman, Mary, whose faith was so deep and whose heart was so pure, that the Father chose her to be the mother of His Son. The Father entrusted His most precious possession to her. Because of her unwavering love for the Father, she was all too willing to be obedient to His will. She poured out her love on Jesus, showing us how to share our love with Him.
And then there was Jesus. Sweet baby Jesus that came into this world for one simple purpose: to seek and save the lost. His love for us is unconditional too. If it wasn’t, it would have been very difficult for Him to complete His ministry and then sacrifice His life on the Cross for us. He knew how great the love of the Father is. He wanted us to be able to have that same loving relationship. He gave His life in love and became our Intercessor with the Father.
The Father and Son sharing their love with us. Wonderful love. Unfailing love. Indescribable love. Merciful love. Unconditional love. Forgiving love. Gracious love. Unjudging love. Saving love. Just for you and for me. This is what Christmas is all about. It is celebrating Jesus who is Love. It’s being like Mary and showing our love to the Father and the Son by surrendering our hearts and being obedient.
Let His love rain down on you during this season. Let it soothe and heal your body, mind and soul. Let it wash away your pains, disappointments and fears. Let it wrap you in comfort and joy. There is no greater love than this. So no matter your trials, let the love of Jesus sustain you. Lift up His name and watch Him fill your cup to overflowing with love. Have a loving day!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Prayer
Lord,
I will trust in You and do good; I will dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. I take delight in You, and You will give me the desires of my heart. I commit my ways to You; trust in You and You will do this: You will make my righteous reward shine like the dawn, my vindication like the noonday sun. I will be still before You and wait patiently for You; I will not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. I will refrain from anger and turn from wrath; I will not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in You will inherit the land. You make firm the steps of the one who delights in You; though I may stumble, I will not fall, for You uphold me with Your hand. The salvation of the righteous comes from You; You are their stronghold in time of trouble. You help them and deliver them; You deliver them from the wicked and save them, because they take refuge in You. I take refuge in You. I look to You and Your ways and wait patiently on You. Every morning I receive Your mercy and Your grace encompasses me. You pour out Your love through me and ordain my steps. Thank You Lord. I praise Your holy name. Amen!
